How the Charity Began
Alice Coralie Glyn was always a champion for women in need.
She originally provided support for women who needed a regular place to stay, be with people, and get a hot meal.
In her will, she left a small legacy that was used to build 14 small bungalows in Welwyn Garden City.
The houses were built in Turmore Dale and Hyde Valley
Who are the houses for?
The houses are administered by the charity which is run by volutary trustees who continue to run a scheme
to provide assistance to people who fit the following criteria:
Over 60
Women or men over the age of 60
Independent
As the properties are not warden controlled or managed, our residents live independently
In need or distress
Certain criteria will apply
Local to WGC
Alice stipulated that residents should come from the Welwyn Hatfield area or Tunbridge Wells
